The SCCG played against GCT on Sunday 25.06 in their 6th ACA T20 Division 2 game of the season at Ballpark Graz. On this sunny and humid day, the GCT, having won the toss, elected to bat first. Though the match was scheduled to begin at 11:00 am, due to technical issues with scoring, the start was delayed by around 45 mins.
Shirzad and shinwari spearheaded the attack from the SCCG side, bowling beautifully with runs only coming of extras and edges. Though there was a tough chance at slip, both the bowlers failed to produce a wicket. Sahil came in to the attack in the 4th over and intelligently brought in a slip (which was removed by captain vikram and the two bowlers) and took the wicket of the GCT opener Niazi. The GCT, though losing wickets now to shinwari, Ghani and sahil scored valuable runs due to brilliant and smart batting by their captain Moheb. At the death overs, SCCG bowler Avinash was introduced in to the attack and he bowled a miraculous spell with shirzad and ghani to clean up the GCT batting line up. Avinash finished with an extraordinary stat of 2-2-0, 2 overs 2 wickets and no run conceded- never have we seen such stats in ACA cricket! With the valuable contribution of Moheb of 34 from 29 balls , the GCT put up a score of 109/10 in 19.4 overs, leaving the SCCG to chase a modest target of 110 in 20 overs.
The SCCG started their chase with their regular openers Jimmy and Vikram. Jimmy started off with a flourishing maximum of the first ball by Bakhtzaman. Jimmy and Vikram went on to score 30 and 15 respectively, giving a Solid start for the SCCG batsman. Mr.Dependable Amit Singh Shekhawat of SCCG continued where Jimmy left off, scoring boundaries of every bad ball consistently. Karthik joined Amit at the crease and rotated strike while Amit did the heavy lifting. Amit was caught out for 35 off 27 balls, making him the highest scorer of the game. Shaheen joined karthik at the crease, and finished the game off with a flurry of boundaries. The SCCG chased the target with 6.3 overs to spare and 7 wickets in hand.
The SCCG will play the vienna eagles in their next game of the ACA T20 Division 2 League on the coming Sunday , 02.07 at ballpark Graz.
