SCCG win their second game but lose their third game in ACA100GRAZ tournament

The SCCG played GCA in their second game of the ACA100GRAZ tournament on 30.04.2023 at Ballpark Graz. The GCA win the toss and elected to bat first.

As always, SCCG bowlers Shirzad and Ghani started off the SCCG bowling attack very beautifully, limiting the runrate to almost less than run a ball. Harun joined the attacks after the opening bowlers failed to pick up a wicket and Struck in his first over. Amit and harun continued their great form and bowled amazingly well. Jimmy and karthik joined the attack later with spin. At the end, shirzad, ghani, amit and Jimmy had picked up 2 wickets each, and karthik 1 wicket to his cap. With Bharat’s 24, abidullah’s 19, and hamid’s 15, and a high catch from pradeep off to finish the innings, the GCA were limited to a total of 100 in 100 balls.

Vikram and Jimmy opened the innings for the SCCG chase of 101 runs, scoring consistently at every occasion, rotating strike beautifully to keep the scoreboard ticking. The pair put up a partnership of 96 almost reaching the target score. Jimmy lost his wicket to a slower delivery from yogesh at 42 off 43 balls. Amit went in at 3 and finished the proceedings with a flourishing drive for 4 runs, and had 5 runs to his name while vokram remained unbeaten at 42 off 37 balls.

The SCCG had won the game. This victory was possible because of team work both on and off the field, with consistent support from the team members! The SCCG will play ASCC in their third game of the tournament.

The third game of SCCG against ASCC for the top spot begann an hour after the second game, with Vikram opting to Bat first. Amit and Gurudas (DaDa) opened the innings and gave a nice start to SCCG innings by rigourously rotating strike. DaDa was caught behind for 6 runs Endingen the partnership. Karthik joined amit at the crease to continue. Amir Was striking the ball well, but got out with a high catch at the boundary. Gyana joined karthik at the crease and the pair put up 50 odd runs to the board before gyana got out with a low googly. Pratik joined karthik at the crease and did a great job rotating strike and keeping the score going. Karthik got out a while later, ending the partnership. Shirzad and Ghani fell in quick succession due to some incrediblw howöing and fielding by ASCC. With some great shots by pratik, and harun at the end, the SCCG set a target of 130 in 100 balls. Karthik scored 37 runs while pratik 20 runs followed by amit and harun with 16 runs each.

The ASCC lost a wicket in the first over in the second ball (the first was a wide) with Najeeb nicking a ball off shirzad to vikram behind the stumps. However, the ASCC picked up pace with Mansoor scoring occasional boundaries off the few bad balls by shirzad and Ghani. However once samargol joined mansoor at the crease, the duo accelerated their scoring with boundaries consistently. Harun, ghani and amit went for valuable runs. Though harun had the last laugh with mansoor, the score had already accelerated and damage done. Samargol continued to add up runs but jimmy caught him off his own bowling with a very high catch. The ASCC batsmen pamir, atef and others converted the dots to Singles to reach the target set by SCCG with 5 balls to spare.

With this loss, the SCCG took second place in the table and ASCC first. The SCCG will take on GCA on 01.05.2023, in the semifinals, while hoping for the best result. Special thanks to AK, shivu and Shivu who contributed both on and off the field.
