The SCCG win against Salzburg Cricket Club (SCCG) by 7 wickets with 3 overs to spare to qualify for the semifinals of the ACAT20 Division 2 league
On 06.09.2020, the SCCG played against the SCC at the Latschach Cricket Ground near Velden am Wörthersee. The winners of this decider match would then progress in to the semifinal stage of the ACA T20 Division 2 League. The SCC won the toss and decided to bat first.
The SCC’s start was really shaky and slow thanks to some excellent bowling by Shoaib, Shirzad and Adil. Shoaib scalped two wickets in the first spell, and SCC was restricted to 41/2 at the end of the powerplay. The spinners then came into play and Jimmy and Saeed did an excellent job of restricting the SCC batsmen. Shoaib came back at the late innings to scalp his third wicket, and Akash finished the SCC innings off by taking two wickets. The SCC managed to set a total of 121/9 in 19.5 overs with the no. 3 batsman Muhammed top scoring at 23 of 30 balls.
The SCCG started strong with openers Jimmy and Vikram going strong and scoring boundaries almost every third ball. At the end of the power play, SCCG was in a strong position with 53/0. Once both openers lost their wickets, Karthik and Shoaib scored runs off the bat with some sensible batting, and shirzad at the end to finish the chase with a boundary in style. Jimmy top scored for the SCCG again with 43 runs off 37 balls, followed by Vikram with 27 runs and Karthik with 21 runs.
All in all, it was an allround effort by the SCCG to retain their place in the top 4 rankings in the tournament. With a semifinal berth confirmed for the SCCG, the players geared up for their second match of the day against Bulls CC Salzburg.
Again, special mention to the SCCG supporters Supriya and Seema who showed up at the venue and cheered for every SCCG run scored, and also the supporters offground who followed the scoreboard online and supported us all the way!
