ACA T20 League: SCCG wins their second league match

The SCCG won against the United Nations Cricket Club (UNCC) by 43 runs
SCCG 139/6 (20); UNCC 96/10 (18.2)

On 12/07/2020, the SCCG played its second match of the ACA T20 Division 2 league against the United Nations Cricket Club (UNCC) at Ballpark Graz. The UNCC remained undefeated in 4 matches and were at the top of the league table.

The SCCG won the toss on sunday and elected to bat first. The openers went off with a consistent though shaky start. However, Jimmy and Waqas picked up a steady partnership and maintained a healthy run rate of around 7 rpo. Jimmy went on to score 53 of 46 balls with four 4s and five 6s, and Waqas 29 from 35 balls. The middle order put up a spurt of runs with boundaries and really good running between the wickets to help SCCG put up a total of 139/6 in 20 overs.

With 140 runs as a target in 20 overs, the UNCC were in a bit of pressure right from the beginning. As usual, a wonderful fast bowling spell by Adil and Shirzad heavily increased the pressure on the UNCC batsmen. With the added pressure by the SCCG bowlers, the UNCC lost wickets almost every other over, and only the opening batsman Aamir put up a fight with 30 runs of 40 balls. Raman and Jimmy continued their amazingly successful spin bowling and ended up with 4 wickets and 3 wickets each. Shirzad and Adil scalped 2 and 1 wickets respectively, with a spectacular economy rate. Eventually, the UNCC managed to put on 96 runs on the board, with some stiff resistance offered by no.8 and no.9 batsmen Sanjiv and Dharminder Pal.

The overall performance with the bat, bowl and fielding by the SCCG showed a deep improvement from the previous match, and this led to the team easily emerging victorious.

Special mention to the SCCG supporters who showed up at the venue and relentlessly supported the team at every turn of the match!
