SCCG wins T20 tournament ID cup 2017 in Surnik (Mezica), Slovenia

The SCCG wins its first international T20 tournament conducted by the Mezica Cricket Club in Surnik, Slovenia

The small town of Surnik, Slovenia, close to the Austrian border has had the cricket ground for almost a few decades now. The ground has hosted many official matches of the Slovenian League and several T20 tournaments under the supervision of Mr. Borut Cejovnik, a patron for cricket in Slovenia. Mr. Cejovnik, and the Mezica Cricket Club (MCC) he’s a part of, have organized several cricketing events on the ground.

The International T20 tournament at Surnik has been conducted almost every year, with teams coming in from Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. On 20-21st August 2017, the MCC organized the International T20 tournament and five teams from Austria, Slovenia and Serbia participated. In this tournament, the SCCG and the MCC eventually were placed at the top of the table, thus competed for the title of champion on the evening of the 21st August. The SCCG won the final by chasing a target of 123 in 20 overs with 3 wickets and 9 balls to spare.
